Our Certifications

Beauty That Gives Back

We donate 2% of sales (not profits) to charity all year, every year.  We support the Seahorse Trust and the Plastic Soup Foundation, as well as donating products to InKind Direct who supply over 300 UK charities.

Sustainable Packaging

All of our packaging is designed with sustainability in mind.  From our compostable pouches to using FSC approved cardboard and vegetable inks and precycled containers that can be returned to us to be reused in our one of a kind closed loop scheme we truly are pioneers in this area.

Vegan Society

95% of our products are registered with the vegan society so you know they are completely plant based.  The other 5% are vegetarian and contain sustainably sourced beeswax which is a by product of the honey industry,

Plastic Soup Foundation

We partner with the Plastic Soup Foundation to fight for clean oceans. The Plastic Soup Foundation lead the way on banning micro plastics from cosmetics.  We are proud that all of our products contain absolutely no micro plastics and we donate 1% of all sales to this charity

B Corp

We are proud to be the first high street beauty brand to become a B Corp in 2017.  Being a B Corp is so important to us and we firmly believe in using business as a force for good - that's why we donate 2% of sales (not profits!) to charities close to our heart

Leaping Bunny

The international gold standard against animal testing - we are fully Leaping Bunny Certified and proud to be a cruelty free brand.

RETURN • REFILL • REPEAT

Our groundbreaking RETURN• REFILL • REPEAT scheme allows customers to send their packaging back to us and we will wash and reuse it in the next batch.  It's even better than recycling!

Made in the UK

We make all of our products in the UK to ensure that we keep our carbon footprint as low as possible.  We are a big employer in our local area and work with local schools and the community to develop sustainability initiatives.

FAQs

Is 62% alcohol enough to be effective?

Official guidance is that to be effective they need to contain at least 60% alcohol (ours contains 62%!), cover the full surface area of your hands and be allowed to dry properly. For household surface disenfection a sanitiser should contain 70% alcohol.

How many times can I refill my bottle and reuse my pump for life?

You can refill your bottle as many times as you wish. The high levels of alcohol in the hand sanitiser means your pump and bottle will always stay hygienic. Eventually your pump will wear out - when this happens, send it back to us and we will send you a replacement free of charge.

How does the product smell?

Minty fresh! Unlike most hand sanitisers we use high grade essential oils instead of synthetic fragrances, because not only are they naturally antibacterial they have a lovely natural fragrance. We have used peppermint and spearmint essential oils for an uplifting minty fresh fragrance.

1 billion single use plastic hand sanitisers sounds like a lot, are you sure?

It sure is. Hand sanitisers should be used when you are out and about and can't wash your hands for the recommended 20 seconds with soap and water. With over 66 million people in the UK using a 50ml bottle every 3 weeks that's over 1 billion bottles!

Is this cruelty free and vegan?

Of course! At Beauty Kitchen we are proud to be Leaping Bunny Certified - the gold standard against animal testing, this means that we (and all of our suppliers) go through rigourous assessments to ensure that all our products are cruelty free. This product is also 100% vegan and made with all natural and sustainable ingredients as well as packaging.

What are Microplastics and why are they bad?

They are tiny pieces of plastic which are found in many personal care products including gel hand sanitisers. These microplastics are so small that we cannot see them with the naked eye. Through our shower and sinks, they flow into sewage systems, slip through the filters in water treatment plants and reach our rivers and oceans. Marine animals mistake these microplastics for food. These particles also end up on our plates because we are part of the food chain. Our hand sanitiser contains NO MICROPLASTICS - we are proud to work with the Plastic Soup Foundation and donate 2% of our profits to charity all year, every year.

Does your hand sanitiser contain GMO alcohol?

No it doesn't. Our alcohol is non GMO, which means it is not genetically modified crop source which meets our 100% natural standards.

How are you helping during this national crisis?

When the COVID -19 crisis started we worked day and night so that we could help and we couldn't be prouder to say that we are supplying the Scottish Government with 50,000 hand sanitisers to be used in the NHS, social care and essential services. We are also continuing to give 2% of sales (not profits) to charity - which is something we do all year every year. This includes product donations to The London Ambulance Service and InKind Direct as well as ongoing financial contributions to Plastic Soup Foundation and The Seahorse Trust.

Do alcohol based hand sanitisers dry your hands?

In a word YES! Any products with a high alcohol content can cause your skin to become dry. To mitigate against this we have added moisturising organic aloe vera and vegetable glycerin to provide vital moisture where it is needed. We would also recommend using a moisturising hand cream to keep those hands super soft. Our SHP+ Ultra Restore Hand Cream is a great choice.

Can I add hand sanitiser to my subscription bundle?

Subscriptions with hand sanitiser are coming soon….watch this space! In the meantime, while we are unable to add products to existing subscription orders, if you are creating a new subscription can add additional products to your overall order. This includes our hand sanitiser. Please note, additional products added will not then become part of your subscription.
