We Are Now A “Best For The World” B Corp!
on Mar 01 2022
We recently announced that we had become THE highest scoring B Corp certified business in the UK Beauty Industry since our recertification score had grown from 89.3 to 139.8 - thanks to how we prioritise balancing purpose with profit. Today, B Corp released their Best For The World 2021 list...and we are on it as Best For The World in Community!
Today there are more than 4,000 Certified B Corporations across 77 countries and 153 industries, unified by one common goal: transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet.
Every year, B Lab recognises the top-performing B Corps creating the greatest impact through their businesses across their five impact areas including: community, customers, environment, governance, and workers. These businesses are leading the way as more businesses continue to join the movement that is transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet.
We are pleased to let you know that Beauty Kitchen are amongst the top 5% of B Corps in the world for Community!
B Corps meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. Community is at the heart of Beauty Kitchen, and there are so many aspects to this on a local and national level, and why we have earned the honour of Best For The World in this impact area. For example:
Pioneering our reusable packaging & Return•Refill•Repeat programme that gives customers easy access to the circular economy
‘Beauty that Gives Back’ - for every sale, Beauty Kitchen donates 2% of sales revenue (instead of profit) to sustainable charity partners (e.g. Plastic Soup Foundation, The Seahorse Trust, In Kind Direct)
Home-grown focus: products are made in the UK, travel less and have a reduced carbon footprint
We are a female led business that helps build a sustainable ecosystem by creating jobs in local communities
"The community initiative that we are most proud of is giving people access to the circular economy through our Return•Refill•Repeat programme. This is about reusable packaging for consumer products, including Beauty Kitchen products.
This provides economic and social advantages of course, but it also brings the community together through supply chain with diversity and inclusion in mind too. Community is important in many ways to every business. " - Jo Chidley, Founder of Beauty Kitchen.
This is a big moment for us and the Beauty Kitchen team and we can't wait to keep improving and continuing to grow as a sustainable community! To find out more, head to the rankings methodology for B Corp here.

Earlier this week, we announced something hugely special to us on our social media.
Recently, The Scottish Government asked us if we could help with any critical supplies for the NHS, Social Care and other front-line services. After just 3 weeks the entire Beauty Kitchen team has been working double time on this and we are now delighted to say that we are officially supplying the Scottish Government with 50,000 units of hand sanitiser in refillable, reusable bottles!
"As a B Corp certified business, sustainability and giving back are at the core of everything we do. When The Scottish Government asked us if we could help with any critical supplies for the NHS, we worked double time to make this happen. Not only have we provided an effective solution for them, but one that is also sustainable and included in our Return · Refill · Repeat programme."
“...We want to pass on a massive thank you to all our supply partners & everyone involved in the creation of the hand sanitiser within such a short space of time. The current situation we are in is a complicated one of course, but we’re incredibly proud of how everyone has come together to support one another.” – Jo Chidley, Founder of Beauty Kitchen.
Determined to provide support in multiple ways, we are donating over 230,000 units of our beauty products to the NHS and charities including In Kind Direct, London Ambulance Service. The products donated include a mix of full-sized products as well as sample size hand cream sachets, a hygienic way of caring for the hands of our NHS staff. We are in this together!
