The leaves are turning amber and the temperature is dropping which means that Autumn must have officially kicked in! Here at the Beauty Kitchen HQ we’ve been noticing that we’re reaching for our lip balm and hand creams a lot more than usual, so it’s clear that it’s time to make that switch from lightweight summer skincare to something a bit more nourishing. We thought we’d gather together the team’s top tips on how to boost hydration in your skincare this season:
1. Switch to a Moisturising Cleanser
Gel and soapy cleansers are perfect for the warmer months, but sometimes our skin needs something a little extra, which is why swapping to a creamier cleanser is an ideal move to make. Made with natural ingredients, our Abyssinian Oil Prime Time Cream Cleanser indulgently melts away the day leaving skin satin smooth. Supercharged with AHAs and hydrating Abyssinian, Rose and Magnolia oils, this is a must for Autumn!
2. Scrubbing Away The Day
Skin may be a bit more sensitive to the elements this time of year, so we recommend gentle exfoliation to remove impurities and dead skin cells. Our Konjac Sponges do just this and are the perfect treat when cleansing skin morning or night for a glowing and healthy complexion. Suitable for even the most sensitive of skins, our sponges are completely natural and are 100% compostable…even the packaging! They are also a great alternative to single use wipes, lasting around 2-3 months.
3. Mask it
Think of your skin as a barrier. When exposed to the sudden change of Autumn weather skin can become aggravated so it’s important to prevent moisture loss with nutrient rich products like face masks. Taking time out of your day for a pamper session is a real luxury but when you don’t have the time to spare, our Quick Fix Moisture Mask renews skin leaving a dewy and youthful base in just five minutes. For more of an intense remedy, our Night Halo Potent Sleep Mask is a relaxing overnight treatment for skin, which nourishes and restores your skin ready for the morning, it’s also packed full of calming essential oils to help you have a restful sleep, what’s not to love?
4. Don’t Fear Face Oils
Many people with an oily skin type steer clear of adding extra oils to their routines, but most of the time your skin is producing excess oil because it's dehydrated. Our Intense Moisture Facial Oil is great for all skin types as it’s non comedogenic (as with our entire Abyssinian Oil range) and balances the skin’s natural oils. Providing extra nourishment to the skin, face oils leave you with glowing and radiant skin - either pat onto skin after cleansing or or add a few drops to your usual moisturiser for an intense hydration hit. Although, it hasn’t stopped a few of us running a couple of drops through the dry ends of our hair!
5. Take Care of the Rest of your Skin
It’s easy to forget about the rest of your body when it comes to this time year, especially when you get out of the shower and all you want to do is skip the body moisturiser to jump straight into your PJ’s... Dehydration can affect the whole body not just the face, especially with central heating and dropping levels of humidity. Try combining our body Konjac Sponge in the shower and our fast absorbing body creams afterwards for lasting hydration and super smooth skin this season.
Our entire Abyssinian Oil range was created with hydration in mind. Infused with sustainably sourced plant seed oils for healthy, happy and hydrated skin, this range is great for when the changing of the seasons starts to affect your skin. See our whole Abyssinian Oil range for yourself here.
